SILVER SPRING, Md. - Home Properties Inc. has broken ground on Eleven55 Ripley, a two-building project with 379 apartments, urban row houses and lofts. The first move-ins are penciled for third quarter 2013.
Shalom Baranes Associates of Washington, D.C., designed the 21-story residential tower, which will be the tallest structure in Silver Spring, and flanked by urban row houses and a five-story building with loft-style units and street-level retail. Amenities include a roof-top outdoor pool, deck and dining area, theater, two-story fitness center with yoga room, 3,000-square-foot clubroom with demonstration kitchen, business center and conference room, and a private, landscaped courtyard.
Eleven55 Ripley is being designed to LEED Silver standards. The development site is 800 feet from the Silver Spring Transit Center.
"One of the unique features that adds to the appeal of Eleven55 Ripley is the public 'pocket park' that will be located within this community," said Donald Hague, senior vice president of development for Virginia-based Home Properties. "This green space will feature glass art panels commemorating world-renowned Silver Spring environmentalist and humanitarian Rachel Carson."
