Fairmont Builders, a commercial construction firm serving the metropolitan DC area, has named Nancy Walker Bassing President. She is the first woman to achieve this milestone since the company was founded in 1961.

Ms. Walker Bassing, formerly Director of Tenant Construction, is a 30-year veteran of general contracting and construction for commercial and residential buildings. Her portfolio of completed construction projects includes over 4.6 million square feet of space with over 600 clients.

Walker Bassing started her career in 1981 and proved her mettle working in the trenches with tradesmen she directed on construction projects.

"Though challenged by them, I was able to demonstrate to these craftsmen the value that we each brought to the project and gained their respect," stated Bassing. Over the years, her expertise continued to grow as tenant interiors evolved in their complexity, sophistication and energy efficiency.

Bassing has successfully completed large build-outs for the US Department of State, and Field Offices for the Federal Bureau of Investigation, US Department of Defense and Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives.

Bassing is a Past President of Commercial and Real Estate Women (CREW) in DC, and former director of the National Network of Commercial Real Estate Women, as well as a former board member of District of Columbia Building Industry Association and former trustee of The Langley School.

Bassing is an Affiliate Member of the American Institute of Architects and holds a Bachelor of Fine Arts Degree in Architecture and Urban Planning from Cornell University and attended the University of Southern California School of Architecture.

"Nancy provides stellar tenant construction services, most recently completing build-outs for Tesla Motors, Shell Oil, Knoll and AOL, in the award-winning USGBC LEED® Gold certified 1050 K Street. I am exceptionally proud of her achievements," stated Edward Lenkin, owner of Fairmont Builders.
