800 North Glebe, a 10-story, 316,000 square foot Class A office and retail complex by The JBG Companies is underway in the Rosslyn-Ballston Corridor.

Concrete pillars are now being poured atop the already completed underground parking garage, signaling the second stage of the LEED Gold Certified project. Located at the corner of North Glebe Road and Wilson Boulevard, the building will include 30,000 square-foot floor plates and 28,000 square feet of retail.

Delivery is expected in March 2012.

The 10-story building will feature a undulating glass façade designed by international architects FXFOWLE. The base building architect is Cooper Carry; LSM designed the lobby and Clark Construction is the contractor.

Local leaders joined U.S. Congressman Jim Moran at the "skybreaking" event, including Arlington County Board Chairman Christopher Zimmerman and Board members Mary Hughes Hynes, Walter Tejada and Barbara Favola. The officials signed their names to a ceremonial steel girder.

Ceremonial ar twork at the site will pay tribute to the former long-time car dealership that occupied the site, Bob Peck Chevrolet. An artist's replica of a '55 Chevrolet tail fin will be placed in an outdoor plaza to signify that history, and the rounded front of the building will feature an architectural awning of the blue-and-white diamond pattern that announced the former dealership to car shoppers of the past.

"Ballston is making a strong statement as a major business hub in the Northern Virginia marketplace and this property is arriving in the best location and at the right time," said Brian Coulter, a Chief Development Officer at The JBG Companies. "We believe the fine design and amenities of this building will be attractive to a wide range of business interests."

Coulter said that 800 North Glebe is perfectly positioned with easy access to Washington, DC and immediate access to I-66 and Rt. 50. The Ballston Metro station is a block away, a feature attractive to today's mobile workforce.

"This is a strong example of the continuing economic progress Northern Virginia is making during these trying times nationally," said Moran. "Locating this state-of-the-art complex in a prime location steps from Metro fits with good government policy and common sense. It can't help but be successful."
